In 1980, siding contractor Carl Anderson recognized a dangerous truth: the makeshift pump-jack scaffolding systems of the time—built from nailed 2x4s, wooden walk planks, and unstable bracing—simply weren’t safe. Determined to create a better solution, Carl developed what would become the Alum-A-Pole®—the industry’s first aluminum pump-jack pole and the foundation for an entire scaffolding system built around safety and performance.
Working closely with OSHA’s Head Compliance Officer, Bill Simms, Carl engineered and tested the complete Alum-A-Pole Scaffolding System, which became the first pump-jack system approved for a 50-foot shoulder working height—a major upgrade from the standard 30-foot OSHA limit at the time. Since then, not a single accident has been reported when users follow instructions and OSHA guidelines.
Over the years, we’ve continued to raise the bar in siding job site safety and efficiency:
The original Alum-A-Pole launches—lab tested to 5,000 lbs.
OSHA approval granted for a 50’ working height
The debut of Pro-Trim® DuroBend®, the first solid vinyl trim coil.
The release of the Alum-A-Brake®—a faster, more reliable siding brake.
For over 40 years, Alum-A-Pole has built tools that outperform and outlast. The original Alum-A-Pole was lab tested to 5,000 lbs and OSHA approved for a 50-foot working height, and we kept raising the bar with Pro-Trim® DuroBend® solid vinyl coil and the Alum-A-Brake®. The result is simple: equipment crews rely on, job after job.
Crafted from structural aluminum, the Alum-A-Pole won’t split, warp, or crack under normal use.
